Time & Location

17 Mar 2018, 2:00 pm – 5:00 pm

breathe - YOGA & more, 32 Havelock Rd, Havelock North 4157, New Zealand

About The Event

Either new to yoga or a certified yoga teacher, you have probably heard of asana, pranayama, and meditation.

But you might not know much about the first two steps of the yogic path - the five yamas and five niyamas. These are the ethical precepts, or core values, of yoga, as well as its starting place. Furthermore, they provide a recipe for living in the world, embodying the peace and ease we cultivate with practice.

Built on interactive methods, discussion and exercises, this workshop aims to create understanding of these ten pillars of wisdom, which can lead the way to true freedom.

We will look through Patanjali's Yoga Sutra, the core text of Yoga, which is not just a boring ancient script, but a collection of universal living principles. We will share, play and discuss in order to see how we can integrate Yoga into our behaviour and become the best version of ourselves.

The Yamas and the Niyamas lead us on a path of transformation, self-knowledge and moral perfection, and this applies in all spheres of daily life. What can this workshop contribute to in YOUR life?

The workshop is suitable for any level - beginners in yoga as for yoga teachers alike.

"Two things fill the mind with ever new and increasing admiration and awe, the more often and steadily we reflect upon them: the starry heavens above me and the moral law within me" ~ Immanuel Kant

"Patanjali has offered us guidelines that will allow us to have enhanced emotional and mental well-being and a more fulfilling and meaningful life. The Yoga Sutra is specifically designed to lead to greater happiness and spiritual fulfillment for you and everyone around you." ~ Joan Shivarpita Harrigan

"They create harmony within you, and in relationship to your environment and to others. Where there is harmony, consciousness can expand. They lead us to a natural revelation of insight into the nature of being, and joy naturally arises." ~John Friend, founder of Anusara Yoga
